The start of a new tour

May 2nd, 2008

Link: http://www.myspace.com/flatlinedband

am i some jaded rockstar because this doesn't quite feel like a tour yet? i don't think so... i am defintitely not jaded yet... i think its cause i can finally afford a cell phone... so i am able to keep in touch with peopl - and cause the level of shit going on behind the scenes of flatlined has increased so much in the last few weeks alone - that the move from living in a house to a van isn't causing a huge change in my day to day activities... still figuring stuff out for upcoming tours - still making a million calls a day, million emails a day... just i do it from the van now instead of my desk!

i think this is going to be our very best tour yet. there are so many amazing things happening in the flatlined camp - that its just making us retardedly focused and ready. last nights show was pretty good - and tonight is going to blow it out of the water.

New South Park...

March 18th, 2008

I don't know if anyone else still watches this show - but when new episodes come out you can bet your ass the Flatlined guys have put everything on hold to watch it. We have canceled shows before so we don't miss the new premier. ha ha ha.

This weeks new episode was about Cartman getting aids. *Spoiler Alert* - I want to talk about the social commentary, and it requires discussion of certain plot points:

So in the episode the kids find the cure for AIDS is cash. I think its fucking genius once again. These guys look at a subject from all sides and write it all from a kids perspective making the whole practice innocent and easy to take. So the best part of the episode would be an American in Africa yelling at some locals that all it takes to cure AIDS is about 180 000 dollars... Which is pretty true these days. I mean whens the last time anyone did give a fuck about AIDS? I know within the band all we do is joke about the disease... Matt and Trey were right - its just not fashionable anymore... And if rich people like Magic are still living with the disease then it stands to reason that with enough money AIDS isn't a big deal...

CanCon

March 3rd, 2008

For anyone not in the know... Cancon stands for Canadian Content. Its the law in Canada that states that all media must contain at least 40% Canadian artists. Its a pretty sweet law, because we are so dominated by American media - it gives us little guys a chance at some radio and television time in our home country. But recently the law has been sort of scewed by the amazing response to Canadians in the American market. I am talking about Nickleback, Avril Lavign, Sum 41, Feist - all the Canadian talent that is dominating the world markets. This makes it harder for the little guy to get on the radio in Canada now because all the stations have to do is play Nickleback's 40000 singles and thats all the Cancon the stations need.

But here comes the awesome part - The CRTC (the organization that tells stations they have to play Canadian artists) has decreed that Cancon was set up to assist emerging artists - and the fact that stations are using the Major Canadian artists as Cancon play goes against the reasons the law was created. So they are amending the law to state that media must play a huge amount of emerging talent - good for us and all our friends who are in the lower teir indie music scene in Canada!

Awesome music will be heard!

Jeff Healy Dies

March 3rd, 2008

Link: http://network.nationalpost.com/np/blogs/theampersand/archive/2008/03/02/guitarist-jeff-healy-dies-at-41.aspx

So guitarist Jeff Healy died yesterday. He was a pretty solid dude. We had the pleasure of playing at his bar on two seperate occasions in Toronto during the formative years of Flatlined. Its a good thing Jeff wasn't there at the time - cause we not only sucked, but were definitely not playing blues...

Peace to the man.
